Whether you are looking for a gift that is personal and unique or would just like to treat yourself to a little something special, you should definitely check out The Green Tangerine – Downtown Gifts in Laconia. Tucked away at 569 B Main St., right next to The Soda Shoppe, The Green Tangerine opened in December of 2014. The store is always evolving, adding more product lines and choices and has a wide variety of primitive décor, candles, jewelry, scarves, greeting cards, puzzles, games and gifts for all occasions.

“We are adding new products and lines to our already fantastic selection on a daily basis,” said Store Manager Jennifer McCammon.” We encourage our customers to shop frequently because there is always something new.”

Lines the store currently carries include Melissa and Doug, Yankee Candle Co., Toysmiths, Tomas Jewelry, Chavez Bracelets, Keep it Sensational bangle bracelets, Modgy Langerns, Homespice Décor and Curly Girl Occasion Cards. The store is actively pursuing opportunities to carry more locally-crafted products.

In addition to offering great merchandise and giving customers the opportunity to spend their dollars locally, The Green Tangerine currently provides a total of 45 hours of part-time employment to eight people supported by Lakes Region Community Services.

It is one of three new businesses launched by StaffWorks of LRCS in the past two years. The other two include Dawgs2Go, a seasonal hotdog cart located at the Happy Cow ice cream stand on Union Avenue in Laconia and Kil’n Time, an art and ceramics studio in Downtown Plymouth.

The agency also operates The Readery in Plymouth and The ClothesLine Resale Boutique, with locations in Laconia and Plymouth. Each of these businesses meets a need in the community and provides job training and employment to people with disabilities. Lakes Region Community Services recently ranked first among New Hampshire’s 10 area agencies for having the highest employment rate in the state among the individuals it supports at 46.1 percent.
