Miles for Smiles Race is Huge Success

Miles for Smiles 2015

Miles for Smiles ‘Tooth Fairy’ and Best Costume Winner Lauren Bergeron of Meredith, spread Smiles to all at the 2015 Miles for Smiles 5K Race held in Plymouth which raised $5700 for dental care for adults with disabilities.

Over 125 runners and walkers came together on a perfect fall late afternoon to participate in 5th Annual Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk on Sept. 15 in Plymouth.  This year’s race was supported by 14 sponsors,  headlined by local dental professionals demonstrating their commitment to helping everyone to have access to preventative dental care and good oral health. Runners and walkers, 4-legged participants, seniors and families with baby carriages all joined in this community-wide event.

The $5,700 race proceeds fund dental care for adults with developmental disabilities served by LRCS throughout the Lakes Region. Except for extractions, dental services for adults are not covered by Medicaid, leaving many unable to access the care they need to maintain good oral health.

“The wonderful thing about Miles for Smiles is that it spotlights just how caring and supportive our community is,” said LRCS Associate Director Laurie Vachon.  “The way that dental professionals, businesses, students, local families and so many others have supported us in helping individuals meet a very basic human need, is truly heart-warming.”

Miles for Smiles major sponsors for 2015 were:  Dr. R. Thomas Finn – Beautiful Smiles; Winnisquam Dental; Hiller Orthodontics; Northeast Delta Dental, NH Healthy Families, and Mid-State Health. Other sponsors included: Everett Johnson, DMD;  NH Dental Society Foundation, Circle Dental, Community Guaranty Savings Bank, Dr. Joan Eversole, Tilton Family Dental, and Dr. Jeffrey R. Crowell.
