LRCS’ 2016 Events and Fundraisers

LRCS Annual Celebration 2016 – April 14

LRCS has a busy year ahead hosting a variety of community events and fundraisers. The first major event of the new year is the LRCS Annual Celebration on Thursday, April 14 at the Beane Conference Center in Laconia.

This special gathering brings together community and business leaders, LRCS board members, volunteers, families, individuals we support, donors, employees, and community partners. It is a special occasion to recognize achievements, honor those who face challenges,  and thank all who help make the work we do successful.

“Above all LRCS is a community-based organization.  Community is central to our mission. We don’t do this work alone. It is how and why we began over 40 years ago – as a grass roots effort to deliver human services in our community, commented Chris Santaniello, Executive Director.”

Carries-BooksThe 2016 Annual Celebration features keynote speaker Carrie Cariello, a successful NH author, blogger, national speaker and presenter on raising children with autism. Her book ‘What Color is Monday? How Autism Changed One Family for the Better’ was published in 2013. Her most recent book ‘Someone I’m With Has Autism’, is a collection of essays from her BLOG www.carriecariello.com as well as new materials. Carrie recently presented a TEDx talk “A Letter to Jack” at the TEDx Amoskeag Millyard.

Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk – June 11

This year the popular Miles for Smiles 5K,  held in Plymouth to raise funds to cover dental care for adults with disabilities, is changing its date from September to Saturday, June 11 to coordinate the run with local school running clubs. “Miles for Smiles is a perfect fit for school running clubs to culminate their training season by joining in a community-wide race/run that raises money for such an important cause, said Laurie Vachon of the LRCS Northern Office. We are excited to expand the reach of Miles for Smiles to more people in the community.” Details on signing up for the June race and information about sponsorships will be available soon.

6th Annual Autism Center Walkathon

The Walkathon to benefit the LRCS Family Resource Center Autism Center is also changing the time of year. The event, which has been held in May, is moving to Sunday, September 18. The popular Walkathon starts and ends at LRCS Main Office in Laconia, adjacent to the WOW Trail and is open to all in the community. “We have found less direct conflicts with a September date. The Autism Center is expanding its programs and services and a fall event allows us more time to introduce the Center to families and children who would benefit from the Autism Center’s programs, commented Erin Pettengill, Manager of the Family Resource Center.”
