Over 200 Attend Annual Holiday Event

Family Fun Night celebrates the holiday season

at the LRCS Family Resource Center

(Laconia)  Lakes Region Community Services (LRCS), Main Street, Laconia was a fabulously fun place to be on December 10 for local children and their families who participate with the Family Resource Center of Central NH.  Over 200 people – families and children of all ages, gathered to celebrate the holiday season. A singing snowman welcomed families to a busy evening that included dinner, holiday craft making, caroling and coloring, story time and the very popular penny gift sale.

Excited children clutching their gift lists lined the hallways awaiting their turn for an Elf escort to the penny gift room where tables overflowed with a large and varied assortment of donated items. When their shopping was done and with hands full of presents, the children moved on to meet the gift wrapping Elves and then they were ready for the holidays!

Adding to this special night, The Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) provided free books for every child in attendance and sponsored a lively story time session presented by NH author Marty Kelley. CLiF also donated 100 new books to the FRC on-site library for children and families to enjoy year-round.

“What a wonderful evening.  It is so meaningful for the kids and their parents to be out together, having fun and enjoying what the season is about. The kids just love all the activities of Family Fun Night,” commented Shannon Robinson Beland, Director of the Family Resource Center.

“We couldn’t have done this without the hard work of so many – the Family Leadership Council parent group who helped to organize the event, our volunteer Elves and the many hard working and dedicated staff from the Agency. We so appreciate the generosity of all those who donated gifts to the penny sale, and are especially grateful to Fratello’s in Laconia for providing a wonderful dinner for all to enjoy.” added Beland.
