Medicaid Managed Care in NH

The State of New Hampshire is in the process of transitioning to a Managed Care system for the services it provides under Medicaid.

 

As of Dec. 1, 2013, three Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) began contracting with the state to provide health care services to Medicaid recipients. This is commonly referred to as Step 1 of Managed Care. Step 2, which is scheduled to launch on December 1, 2014 will include long-term care. The community-based supports and services provided by Lakes Region Community Services are part of Step 2.

 

Some populations had the choice of opting out in the first year of the program. Those who were able to opt out or were not eligible to choose a health plan, remain in fee for service Medicaid for now.
