50th Anniversary Celebration
Former pro snowboarder and traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivor Kevin Pearce to headline Lakes Region Community Service’s 50th Anniversary Celebration In July at Gunstock Mountain Resort.
We are extremely excited to announce Kevin Pearce, former pro snowboarder and traumatic brain injury survivor will be the featured speaker at the LRCS’s 50th Anniversary Celebration event Thursday, July 17 at Gunstock Mountain Resort. Kevin’s inspirational story promises to highlight an exciting and impactful gathering, with community leaders, local businesses, employees and supporters of our mission coming together to recognize the impact of what we do.
Kevin went from being an Olympic gold medal hopeful to suffering a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) that nearly took his life during a training run for the Olympics in 2009. Although Kevin was wearing a helmet, the injury left Kevin in critical condition and in a medically induced coma. Though his snowboarding career was over, Kevin’s Road to recovery has brought to light his potential to transform the experience of traumatic brain injury (TBI) into a source of inspiration, education and awareness. His journey has also included forging a new path toward helping and inspiring others. As the co- founder of the Love Your Brain Foundation, Kevin has found a passionate sense of purpose advocating for the prevention of brain injury and assisting those affected by it.
The 2013 documentary The Crash Reel by Lucy Walker documents Pearce’s preparations for the 2010 Winter Olympics games, the 2009 injury, and his subsequent rehabilitation. Kevin will be the keynote speaker for Lakes Region Community Service’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, held on July 17, 2025, at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH. Doors will open at 4:30 and include appetizers and a cash bar.
