Better Together-Making Our Community the Best Place for Children and Families

    News and Updates

The Better Together Steering Committee has been discussing ways to sustain and expand the energy and enthusiasm generated at that first meeting on May 21 and at subsequent Better Together events.  We are thrilled to see people consistently attending and committed to working together, but we do not want to stop there. We want to ensure that Better Together offers opportunities for new people to be integrated into projects and that new ideas have the opportunity to be heard and explored.

In an effort to bring new individuals to Better Together and also reenergize/refocus those of us that have been here since inception, we will now hold two types of Better Together events throughout the year.  The first type will be similar to the monthly meetings that were held in June and July.  These monthly meetings will continue to be a time to share accomplishments both big and small and to meet with committees focused on specific community projects or events.  The second meeting type will be a quarterly meeting with an extended format that will allow more time for socializing and networking.  Refreshments will be offered, speakers may be brought in, and more attention will be given to the recruitment and integration of new participants and the development of new committees at these quarterly events.  Given that many of our current Better Together endeavors appear to be time-limited, these quarterly meetings will be a time to assess our progress.  For committees that have accomplished what they set out to do, these meetings may be a time to celebrate and disband.  For committees that need more time, these meetings may be an opportunity to recruit new membership.  For individuals who have multiple interests, these meetings may be a time to excuse yourself from one endeavor and commit yourself to another.   Visit the Better Together website at www.BetterTogetherLakesRegion.org

Better Together Monthly Meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Laconia Middle School. For more detailed information contact Shannon Robinson-Beland at 524-8811, ext. 1571 or email her at shannonr@lrcs.org
